The Barbados Centre for Non-profit Excellence was originally founded in 2016 as the Barbados Resource Information Corner for Non-Profit Organizations (BRICNO). The civil society cause is built on key values encompassing the principles of quality information and knowledge management which include:
◾ Passion for reflective learning
◾ Identification of knowledge
◾ Discovery of wisdom
◾ Innovation in collaboration
◾ Power of social change through the application of capacity building success stories. The latter is our primary focus in providing insightful information to local non-profit organization leaders about non-profit management.
Based on the current needs, perspectives and general feedback by local NGO leaders about the struggles of managing a non-profit organization, the key capacity building subareas of concentration for information exchange include:
◆ Governance: Accountability
◆ Resource Management: Managing individual donors
◆ Strategic Planning: Building partnerships
The Barbados Centre for Non-profit Excellence provides valuable online information on governance, advocacy, strategic planning, project and resource management for the
sustainability of local non-profit organizations.
Our main purpose is to share insightful knowledge for the sustainability of local non-profit organizations.
Non-profit organizations in Barbados face termination because they struggle to attract and maintain funding for programs. This is a result of the lack of a central platform for sharing success stories in areas of governance, advocacy, strategic planning,
project and resource management that affect the sustainability of local non-profit organizations.
An online knowledge management tool implemented bridges the educational gap between local non-profit organizations informal and formal learning sources and associated success stories regarding attracting and maintaining program funding. The system collates fragmented web information to distribute a varied selection of choices to strengthen local non-profit organizations capacity building framework.
